Overview

Home maintenance, booked in minutes.  Finding someone to fix a leaking tap or service a boiler is still a fragmented process, a referral in a group chat, an unanswered call, a quote that arrives three days late. Homeowners don't lack options; they lack confidence in them.  Taskora connects homeowners with vetted maintenance professionals. Every pro is background-checked, pricing is shown upfront, and booking takes under two minutes.

The Problem

Booking a tradesperson means trusting a stranger in your home, often with no reliable signal of who's dependable. Existing platforms compete on price and volume, burying the one thing users actually weigh: can I trust this person?

Research

We interviewed 20 homeowners about how they decide to trust an unknown person in their home, followed by a complete affinity diagram. Plus, we ran a competitive analysis of existing platforms in the space. Trust and price, surfaced as the deciding factor, and it shaped how Taskora introduces its professionals.

Insight

Trust, not price, was the deciding factor. Users consistently chose a slightly more expensive professional with clear verification over a cheaper unknown. Competitors optimized for discounts; that was the gap.

Design Decisions

Because trust outranked price, I led the decisions that surfaced credibility first: verification badges and background-check status on each professional's card, upfront pricing instead of "request a quote," and a booking flow condensed to 3 screens (with overlays for sub-steps like time selection and confirmation, so users never lose context).

Outcome

An end-to-end flow that moves a user from problem to confirmed appointment in under 2 minutes across 3 screens. A platform that converts on trust rather than discounts.
